La Carrera

“La Carrera”: An Audacious Road, A Dangerous Race…

A note from Travis and Jess: “La Carrera” is inspired in three ways. The first inspiration is our beloved bright orange 1975 BMW 2002. The second inspiration is the 2,500 mile journey we took to bring that car home (Michigan to California, with trials and tribulations along the way). The third inspiration is the Panamerican Highway. A 19,000 mile stretch of continuous road (other than a short rainforest break) that connects the Americas South to North. In 1950, to celebrate the completed construction of the 2,178 mile stretch that passes through Mexico, the Mexican government organized a race. - La Carrera Panamericana. A 9-stage, 5 day race, which gained fame as the world’s most dangerous race, earning its cancellation only 4 years later. The event was later resurrected in the 1990’s as a classic speed rally.

The highway construction from concept to execution was an audacious idea. The road traverses an enormity of ecological and geographic diversity, spanning from the northern reaches of Alaska in Prudhoe Bay to the southern tip of Argentina in Ushuaia. The road stands for something absurd, human, connective, adventurous, and bold.

La Carrera is brewed as a classic dark Mexican Lager. It’s malty, refreshing, crisp, and celebratory.
